Found: Central Jakarta, 28 October 2012

Lost Art Registry Indonesia:
Found: Central Jakarta, 28 October 2012

Today, the seven paintings that were stolen from the house in South Jakarta was retrieved by their owner from a dealer in Central Jakarta. The dealer called me yesterday evening, saying that he had purchased the paintings on 18 October 2012 from a "door-to-door" vendor. However later he found out that the paintings that he had purchased were the stolen and was reported on the LARI weblog, and therefore he intended to return them to their rightful owner. Today, I assisted the owner, and retrieved the paintings, which consisted of two paintings (one of a Beringin Tree and the other of boats by the beach) by Affandi, two paintings (one of Kresna wayang and the other of a Ngaben Procession) by Bagong Kussudiarja, a painting of Baris Dancers by Sudiarta, a painting of fish by Wadji.. (indistinctly signed), and an anonymous abstract painting.
We thank everyone who contributed to this effort.
